Phase 2, Pool 2 Rewards: What Happened, and What Happens Next
When Phase 2 - Pool 1 claims opened in early July, the claim portal displayed a reward amount that was roughly three times higher than what the real Pool 2 reward should have been. That amount was later updated to reflect the Pool 2 reward pool directly, and payouts appeared reduced. Thankfully, no one was paid at the inflated values, however there is some confusion about the payouts. Let’s dive into exactly what happened, the math behind it with receipts, and what happens from here.
What happened
Each wallet's reward comes from a simple formula: your share of Pool 2 × the Pool 2 total = your reward.
In July, the portal used a different number for the Pool 2 total. Instead of the actual pool amount, it used the full balance of the rewards distribution wallet - which also held all of Pool 1's funds. That balance was about three times larger than the real Pool 2 amount.
Because every wallet's share was multiplied by that larger number, every reward came out roughly three times too high. Once the formula switched to using the actual Pool 2 total, every amount updated by the same ratio and seemed reduced, when in reality it is now showing the intended and correct value.
Pool 1 used its own dedicated figure and was distributed correctly on August 20, 2026.
The numbers
On 1 July, the distribution wallet held 4,826,875.919 PEAQ — the figure the July portal divided among claimants. That balance is verifiable onchain: peaq.subscan.io.
The actual Pool 2 reward pool is 1,609,879.59 PEAQ. That's the figure the corrected portal uses now, and it's what gets paid.
Example: for a wallet with a 1% share of Pool 2: 1% of 4,826,875.919 PEAQ produced 48,268.76 PEAQ in July - again, these were never paid. 1% of the real 1,609,879.59 PEAQ pool is 16,098.80 PEAQ — funded, and payable now. The ratio holds for every wallet: the corrected amount is about 33.35% of the July figure.
Participation factors in too. Based on the rewards calculator, roughly 40 wallets claimed this round.
This implies a 2% participation rate, which on its own would result in a pool of approximately 420,000 PEAQ. The existing pool is 1,609,879.59 PEAQ, and we are leaving it unchanged to account for the earlier error and any expectations it may have created, ensuring participants receive more than the participation rate alone would imply.
What's correct now
The amounts shown on the claim portal from relaunch onward are calculated from the actual Pool 2 reward pool. They are fully funded, and they are what gets paid.
How to claim
The claim portal (claim.krest.network) relaunches on Sept 2nd at 17:00 CET. If a Pool 2 reward hasn't been received yet — claimed in July or never claimed — here's what to do:
1. Go to claim.krest.network.
2. Connect the wallet.
3. The corrected, most accurate balance will show.
4. Click Claim. This starts vesting, trackable by transaction hash.
This applies whether the July claim went through or not — every eligible wallet claims once on the relaunched portal. Wallets that already claimed on the relaunched portal are done: that reward is vesting at the corrected amount, and no additional balance is owed. The higher July figure was the display error described above, not a second payment.
Vesting: 60 days vesting, upon successful claim
What's changing
Reward pools will now be locked into a fixed snapshot the moment a pool closes, instead of being read from a live wallet balance. That removes this failure mode for future rounds.
A lower number than July is frustrating, especially this long after claims opened. The corrected amount is the accurate, fully funded one, and every eligible wallet can claim it from relaunch at claim.krest.network.
